| Resumo | The main goal of this study was to investigate the temporal evolution of dekadal NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) data from SPOT Vegetation for different targets ("pure" and "non-pure" pixels) obtained from a land use map based on Landsat-5/TM, for the period from September 2007 to May 2008. This period coincides with the vegetative cycle of soybean in the Western region of Paraná. The behavior of the dekadal NDVI profile for "pure" targets such as sugar-cane, soybean, forest, urban areas and pasture shows different trends. Targets such as forest have steady temporal behavior, soybean, on the other hand, shows significant variation in NDVI values along the crop cycle. The blend of different targets ("non-pure" pixels), in various proportions, influences the final behavior of the pixel´s temporal profile. This nornally causes difficulties in generating "masks" for different crops, because this blend of targets may mislead, in some cases, the expected behavior of a particular pixel. However, this pixel will not be selected in the mask generating process, compromiseng its accuracy. The results have shown that it is possible to detect the influence of different targets on the NDVI temporal profile, allowing to build rules for the selection of "non-pure" pixels to generate crop masks. | |||
